Our Story

The story starts in June of 1980, when Tim Killian opens the doors to his very own residential contracting firm in Tuscaloosa, AL. After years of working for his father-in-law’s company, he was ready to make his own mark. Fast forward through 8 years of blood, sweat, and tears, and the company transitions into the commercial space where it is now. Because of Tim’s grit and determination during those early days, it enabled the company to not only qualify, but excel in the commercial sector.

Today, KILLIAN is still headquartered in Tuscaloosa, but has a footprint statewide and beyond. Tim’s son, Lee, has since then joined the company with plans to carry on his dad’s legacy. Together, they tackle the day-to-day activities that come with running a construction business. Although not as involved as he once was, Tim continues to oversee and navigate the company ‘ship’ in the right direction. He demands excellence from all employees at every avenue. “It’s my job to make sure the company culture lives long after I walk out the back door,” says Tim. Even though KILLIAN has experienced tremendous growth and has undergone certain operational changes over the years, the core values it was founded upon have stayed the same:

These core values are not only pushed upon KILLIAN employees, but also to their design teams and trade partners. “After my 40 plus years in this business, the one thing I’ve found to be truer than all is to surround yourself with good people, all the way down to the guy sweeping the floor. Good people take care of each other. Good people take care of our clients,” says Tim. KILLIAN ensures there is a high level of comfort among the entire project team before any work begins. “The client’s best interest should always be the main focus of each project team. It’s our responsibility as a general contractor to make sure that is the case,” says Tim.
